BGC Contracting Secures New Relationship Based Contract
Posted on: Tue 8 July 2008
BGC Contracting is part of a Joint Venture team (named Team Savannah), which includes another contractor - Laing O'Rourke, to design and construct three new bridges and make improvements to two major sections - 20km of road along the Bow River section and a 20km section along the Elvire section - of the Great Northern Highway in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. The project is being delivered under an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) agreement. This is a relationship based form of contract that has not been used previously by Main Roads WA. The project is scheduled for completion in December 2009 and is valued at $80 million.
This brings the number of relationship based agreements that BGC Contracting is operating under to four, the others include a mining Alliance with Portman Ltd at Koolyanobbing ($800 million); plus the two partnering agreements with Main Roads WA, which are used on the two ten year Term Network Contracts that BGC Contracting has in the Pilbara-Gascoyne region ($250 million) and Kimberley region ($160 million) of WA.
