BGC Contracting Secures Significant New Queensland Project

BGC Contracting Pty Ltd has secured a significant new project in Queensland for Rio Tinto Coal Australia (RTCA). The project is the Kestrel Mine Extension, located approximately 50kms north east of the town of Emerald.

The work under this Contract consists of all earthworks and civil works for the excavation of two (2) box-cuts, the installation of a pre-cast portal arch system in each box-cut and the subsequent backfill of each box-cut. The scope also includes the construction of holding and sedimentation dams, with the excavated material being utilised to create the ROM stockpile areas, the Mine Infrastructure Area (MIA), diversion bunds, environmental bunds and various lay-down areas. A 5,2km mine access road is also included in the scope of work. The contract value is approximately $50 million.
